Guess what? The Clothes Show is coming back – again. The iconic fashion show of the 80s that ran for 14 years is making a reappearance but this time it will be on YouTube. You might remember that The Clothes Show was hosted by TV presenter, Selina Scott, designer Jeff Banks, fashion editor Caryn Franklin and later Brenda Emmanus. It was so popular that it created The Clothes Show Live and was truly one of its kind. To be honest there has been nothing quite like it since. In 2007 the show was brought back, much to my delight and aired on UKTV. Caryn Franklin was still there but there were two new presenters, Louise Redknapp and Brendan Courtnay. Sadly it didn’t last long and the show was axed after a few series.
The revamped show which will be called Clothes Show TV, will be broadcast on a dedicated YouTube channel three times a week. The format will be Showbiz Monday’s, Fashion Wednesday’s, and Hair & Beauty Friday’s. Not bad at all and very appropriate for todays pop culture. Hardcore fans will be pleased to know that Caryn Franklin will be popping up in the show. Names of the presenters are yet to be announced but the show will feature all the usual fashion news, industry press events, red carpet style, up-to-the minute style advice and trend forecasting from the glamorous world of fashion and beauty. There will also be input from a selection well-known fashion and beauty bloggers. This should be interesting; I am not sure what to expect – I guess something like Gok’s Fashion Fix but with a bit more substance. The fact that is it on YouTube bears a lot of significance and means that the creators are embracing the digital culture we live in. The fact that they are including bloggers into the mix is really no surprise at all.
Clothes Show TV will air on 19th June.
