Tanqueray Gothic Gin Garden Pop Up

November 3, 2018

I’m not a great lover of gin; more a wine and cocktail lady with a touch of prosecco thrown in. However as gin is now trendy these days I decided to check out the Tanqueray Gothic Gin Garden Pop Up at Playboy Club London.

Tanqueray Gin has been around since the 1830s and is a real heritage brand and they have partnered with Playboy Club London to create a Gothic Garden. The pop-up opened on October 27th and I headed down there last Wednesday with a couple of my gal pals.

We were greeted by a decadent room full of ethereal ferns, roses and greenery. There was a gorgeous bar decked out in flowers and herbs as well as a garnish wall with bottles of Tanqueray Gin, Tonic Water, pots of herbs and jars of fruit – basically everything you need to make the perfect gin fused cocktail. The space had a glamorous botanical goth vibe about it that was very welcoming.

After being greeted by the iconic Playboy Bunnies (I kid you not) we were invited to create our own bespoke gin cocktail over by the garnish wall. The bartender told us about the different types of gin and talked us through the process of making gin cocktails.

My bespoke gin cocktail was a mixture of blueberries, mint, cucumbers with a strawberry tonic and it was indeed very tasty. We were then served numerous canapes and lots of gin cocktails (I lost count after three) however the one that stood out to me was The Haunted Mansion which contained Tanqueray, Cherry Marnier, Raspberries, Egg White and Noilly Prat. The texture was very creamy and not overly sweet. All of the Gin Cocktails were served with a tiny snack and mine came with a chocolate and hazelnut brownie.

We had a great time learning all about gin and could not help oohing and aahing over the decor because it was so pretty. I have convinced myself that I need a Gothic Garden complete with a decorated bar. If you fancy an evening out with a bit of a twist then I would recommend the Gothic Gin Garden; it is the perfect venue for you to catch up with friends or to get your night off to a rolling start.

Tanqueray Gothic Gin Garden Pop Up is at Playboy London until November 24th.

Gin seems to the drink these days, normally I find it too strong but when it is infused with something it’s actually very nice.
