Slapp – the Foundation Matching App

January 4, 2018

Slapp is a makeup app that matches you to foundations, concealers and tints that are the right shade for your skin tone. It is personalised beauty for the millennial woman.

All you have to do is just take a selfie or upload a picture of yourself to the app and a selection of foundations, concealers and tints that are suitable for your skin tone will come up. You are able to choose from  a wide selection of brands, products and prices from the comfort of your sofa, Uber or train.

Slapp was created by Jamila Robertson, to promote brands that cater to all skin tones; whilst making foundation easier to shop for.

As a teenager, Jamila found it impossible to source foundation that suited her complexion. She created Slapp so that women all over the country could shop for complexion cosmetics that were right for them; and to take away the guesswork that still goes into buying foundation, both on and off-line. Because who has time to waste money on foundation that does not match their skin?

I gave Slapp a try and found it very easy to use, I just uploaded a picture of myself, tapped on the picture (as instructed ) and numerous products came up.  I would advise that you upload a picture that shows your true complexion in order to get the right match. I have not ordered any products from my match yet but the choices did look a bit light but then the picture I used was taken in a place with a lot of lighting.

Slapp is free to download on iTunes and Android.

This sounds useful. I wonder if it can match an existing foundation as well. I love my Burberry Fresh Glow foundation and would love to know the equivalent shade in other foundations as i’m SO bad at matching my skin tone! Will have to check it out!

It’s a great idea and saves a lot of time and money. Just make sure that the picture you upload is taken in natural light in order to get the right match.
