So these are quite delish. Nanaimo Bars is a combination between a chocolate bar and a biscuit. If you like to sink your teeth into a deep filled chocolate brownie then you need to take a look at these. Nanaimo Bars are made with three layers of coconut biscuit, custard cream and premium Belgian chocolate with a dash of bourbon vanilla. These yummy bars are created in Canada by Rebecca Jeavons-Fellows who used her grandmother’s secret recipe from the 1950s. Rebecca and her mother have worked together to master and perfect the recipe using the best quality ingredients such as free-range eggs and fair-trade cocoa.
The bars were released last year and have proved to be a huge success and have already received a lot of acclaim in the industry. They are being tipped as one of the Top Food Trends for 2014, been touted as the ‘most stand out product’ at Jamie Oliver’s Big Feastival and Rebecca herself has won The Grocer award in 2013 for Top New Talent. If you fancy a substantial snack after lunch then these are perfect because they get your energy up and most certainly fill the gap. They are made in three different flavours; caramel, mint and original. Trust me, Nanaaimo Bars are naughty but nice.
