My Blogging Tech Kit

February 5, 2018

Being a blogger requires quite a few tools if you are to create the high quality content that you need. I have written a post about my blogging tech kit.

Macbook Pro

I bought this over a year ago – Apple laptops are my go to products. I have only had a PC laptop once and it was horrific so Apple is here to stay. I was going to go for the Macbook because I loved the look of it and fancied the idea of having the matching laptop and iPhone but I was advised by one of the staff that if I wanted to do video editing that the Macbook would not cut it. I am happy with this Macbook Pro; it is a lot lighter than my old one and I can do everything I want on it.

iPhone 7 Plus

This is the first time I have ever had an iPhone and I can see that I have been missing out. I have been using Nokia – now known as the Windows phones for  a few years now. While they functioned pretty well, it was hard to find decent apps as many developers missed out this platforms when they created their products. I am not a fan of Samsung phones, I had the Samsung III and hated it so I knew my next phone would be the iPhone. Everything just slipped into place with this phone, the keyboard was easy to use, there were plenty of apps to choose from and I can synch everything with my laptop. The camera is really amazing and allows me to take some fantastic shots. The only downside is that when a new model is released the old version slows down.

Olympus Pen EPL-8

Talking of cameras this is the one I take with me when I am going somewhere special – like a press day, restaurant or a blogger’s event. I do all my filming on this camera too which I edit using iMovie which is very easy to use. I have written a full review of the Olympus Pen which you can read on the link above.

Portable charger

I never leave my home without this. I was gifted it at the Vuelio Awards last year and it has been a lifesaver. It charges my phone within an hour when my battery goes flat.

Skullcandy XTFree Headphones

Sometimes you need a bit of background noise when you are creating content and when you are in a public place you can’t exactly blare out your music. That is where headphones come in and particularly wireless ones where you are not attached to your laptop or phone. These ones by Skullcandy are pretty cool, you can read the review I wrote about it which is above.

I love this list. I have very similar, the MacBook Pro and the iPhone. I have the Canon G7X Mark 2 camera and LOVE it but I’ve heard that the Olympus Pen is so incredible. xx

Thank you so much. I have heard good things about the Canons so I will check them out.

Totally agree with the apple products- they all sync and are so user friendly. The only thing I don’t have that would be great is a decent camera. I have an iPhone X and the camera is good but I’m hoping to get a separate camera and maybe do a photography course 🙂

Yes I have my eye on a photography course. I think it would be very useful.

I love some good tech. I need to use my portable charger more – it is forever running out when I am out and about carrying out reviews 🙂 x

All you need to do is get into the habit of charging it. Just treat it like an extension of your mobile.

I am dying to treat myself to an Olympus pen. I love my canon and I’d be keeping that too but the pen is just so handy to carry all the time.

I would advise that you test it our first because I don’t think the setting are as easy as the Canons.

Looks like you’re all sorted! I can’t use in-ear headphones, I got some on-ear ones from B&H Photo in a lovely petrol colour.

Funnily enough I used to hate in-ear headphones but these ones by Skullcandy are very soft and comfortable. (I’m not just saying that 🙂

I am currently using a HP laptop to do all my blogging and it is actually THE BANE TO MY ENTIRE LIFE. I really don’t want to spend so much money on a Mac but I know when I eventually get into taking videos I am going to need a Mac for editing those!

I am biased but I feel that you get your money’s worth with a Mac. They last for at least five years, my Dell laptop barely lasted a year. It’s well worth think about.

I am a PC laptop lover all the way. I have an Alienware laptop that I adore and I love the company. I can do every thing on my laptop. I have an iPhone and have been using them for years. I hate that our old ones slow down as soon as the new one comes out but that’s the company’s way of getting people to buy the new one, which I will be doing in a couple of months. I have been looking for a good camera so I’ll give yours a try. And as for Skullcandy… I don’t use anything else when it comes to my music. They are the best!

Skullcandy are the best aren’t they? Yes, it’s very annoying about the iPhones.

I’ve got a MacBook Air and iMac which I’m glad I got! I have to say that I’m not a fan of iPhones at all – I had iPhones for years but couldn’t get on with them. I moved to Samsung and much prefer it lol! Also I’ve got two cameras – one for filming (Canon 700D) and one for my pictures Sony A5000 – no issues with either of them to be honest. I’ve not tried the Skullcandy headphones though! I’m so useless with remembering my portable charger lol.

The iMac? That’s the flatscreen computers right? How cool is that? You really need to look into Skullcandy, they design for women especially.

We’re very similar! I have a MacBook Pro, iPhone and Skullcandy headphones! My camera of choice is a Canon 5D Mk III though.
