So about a month ago my Mum and I were feeling hungry and had a craving for KFC. Me being the lazy git I am could not be bothered to traipse down to the High Street (a 20 minute walk to my defence) to our local KFC., so I did what any self respecting modern lady would do. I logged online to find a delivery service and came across Just Eat.
I went onto the site, selected what I wanted, placed my order and sat back and waited for my delivery to arrive. The delivery time was estimated at around an hour but the delivery man turned up will within that time. He handed over my order, I thanked him and that was that – and the KFC was as tasty as ever. Happy mum and happy daughter. I even went on Twitter and raved about how great Just Eat were.
A week ago I became aware of an incident where a lady had ordered via Just Eat and had been bombarded by unwanted messages via Whatsapp from the delivery guy who had taken a liking to her. She made an official complaint to the brand and was offered an apology and £5 compensation for her distress which was later increased to £10. The story went viral and has been covered in the media.
All I can say is wow! Not only is this a compete invasion of someone’s privacy and safety but the fact that Just Eat could be so dismissive to a customer who has been treated this way is appalling. Just Eat, it is not ok that a member of your staff behaved this way. The fact that you demonstrated such lack of concern for your customer’s care tells me that you do not value them. It also makes me wonder how you go about vetting your staff and what you do with our private information.
I also need to add that since the story broke, the lady in question has been contacted by numerous women who have had the same thing happen to them. I am now side eyeing my Just Eat app.
Just Eat have since released a statement apologising for the incident and stating that they are investigating the matter.
Have you ever used Just Eat? What are your thoughts?
