Browns Cafe & Restaurant was recommended to me by a friend and as it was on the same road of Alara Lagos which we were visiting, we decided to kill two birds with one stone – and so on. Browns is a restaurant/cafe where you can stop at to have lunch, meetings or a coffee if you are travelling solo. The ambience is very laid back and decor is elegant.
The venue touts itself as a place where food and drinks are thoughtfully prepared and hand crafted from scratch daily by their incredible culinary team, using the highest quality, freshly sourced and organic ingredients.
What struck me about the place was how beautiful the front garden was. It is full of potted flowers, leafy plants and trees which makes it the perfect backdrop for alfresco dining. Unfortunately it was raining when we went so we sat inside.
The menu covers you from breakfast, lunch to dinner. It consists of traditional Nigerian dishes such as yam and plantain served boiled or fried with corned beef stew, mildly spiced tomato fish or egg sauce to American ones such as French toast with a light dusting of icing sugar served with bananas and maple syrup. Those are just the starters.
To be honest we were not that hungry so just settled for some beverages. I had a Cafe Latte and I will say that the service was impeccable. Browns is certainly a place I will be visiting.
