Pond’s is a heritage beauty brand that goes back to the 1840s. It was created by Theron Tilden Pond and was one of the first skin creams to use the soothing and reparative benefits of hazel extract. The aim was to allow women from all walks of life to indulge in quality yet inexpensive skincare. The brand proved to be a huge hit with consumers and a few years later the range was expanded to include; toilet creams, dentifrice, lip salve, plasters, soaps, veterinary remedies, and talcum powders. Pond’s two face creams, the Cold Cream and the Vanishing Cream were launched in 1907. By the 1940s Pond’s was part of women’s daily beauty routines in over 119 countries. The 1980s kicked off with the launch of Pond’s cream range: Cold Cream,, Dry Skin Cream, Vanishing Cream Oil Free Moisturiser and a new formula for Light Moisturiser’ which catered for every woman’s skin type. The range now includes, Cold Cream Cleanser, Hydro Nourishing Cream, Nourishing Anti-Wrinkle and Triple Action Moisturiser. In 2011 Pond’s launched their Eye Contour Cream in the UK which is fragrance free and contains vitamins and elastin to achieve double action: It also helps to reduce puffiness and smooth out wrinkles. I was sent a sample of the eye cream to use and I can assure you that it is very soothing and helps to soften your eye. The cream also has a really lovely smell that is not too over powering and the micro size is very handy for you to pop into your make up bag. It is priced at £5.50 which is very reasonable especially as you only need a tiny amount at a time.
