A while back (cough a few months ago) I was invited to the Laura Ashley Elstree hotel to have Afternoon Tea. The Laura Ashley hotel is based in leafy in Elstree which is famous for being the location of the BBC studios and where Top of the Pops was filmed. The aim of the visit was for Laura Ashley to show off their furnishing and interior.
On the day we met at Kings Cross where the cutest and prettiest vintage bus spiralled us away up the motorway to Laura Ashleyville. We were greeted by the friendly staff and led to an immaculate room where we were served a delicious Afternoon Tea. There were gorgeous sandwiches, pretty cakes and tasty scones on a tray which I shared with Ronke Lawal from Who’s For Dinner? which we finished off with a great brew.
Afterwards we were given a tour of the hotel and the grounds and I was really impressed with the way the brand had retained the period features of the property. I am talking about roof beams, cornicing, large fireplaces, wooden panelling and stained windows.
Laura Ashley The Manor Hotel in Elstree opened its doors in 2013 and has a Tudor feel about it. It is set in 10 acres of gardens and natural woodland and has views overlooking the Hertfordshire countryside and Central London. There are 49 ensuite bedrooms, a restaurant, a bar as well a garden area that is quite lush and the supersize chessboard is a real treat.
The hotel also caters for various events from meetings to large banquets and weddings. However, as grand as the venue is, it has an intimate and cosy feel that makes you feel at home. The staff are neither imposing or standoffish. The hotel is a perfect choice for couples or families who fancy a quiet weekend away but do not fancy travelling miles to get there.
