Kate Bosworth has teamed up with Topshop to launch a collection that that focuses on festival chic. The other Kate has used her cool but effortless style to create The Road to Coachella, a collection that is fresh, chic and wearable. There are 16 pieces which are based around cropped tops, summer dresses, denim shorts, gllets, camisoles and headbands. It’s is no secret that Kate is a fashion icon, kind of like a Cali Kate Moss so it’s no shock that she has moved into designing. She is also a regular to Coachella (the only festival that I would show my face) where she is often papped looking somewhat amazing. This collection follows the one that she did for Topshop last Christmas which I must be under a rock because I was not aware of it at all. To be honest there is nothing revolutionary about the collection but what I do like is the promotional element. Team Topshop and Kate Bosworth have created a short film which shows Kate posing in the middle of the desert wearing pieces from the collection. The film is of course called The Road to Coachella and is actually directed by Kate’s husband, Michael Polish. I really do love this form of brand extension and story telling. Fashion lovers are encouraged to buy pieces from the film aka ‘shop the film’ and each piece is organised by the stills from the film. Even the make up that Kate is wearing in the film (Topshop of course) can be purchased. You can also download the music from the film on iTunes. Modern marketing at its best.

The Road to Coachella is available to buy from Topshop.

I loved this film because it was one of the first movies that told the stories of African Americans without making the colour of their skin an issue. It was in the group with Love Jones, The Wood and Brown Sugar and pretty much featured the same group of people. Best Man is the story of a group of college friends who meet up after several years when two of them (Lance and Mia played by Morris Chestnut and Monica Calhoun) decide to get married. Over 20 years later we have a sequel with the same cast who have met up once again for another big occasion. The Best Man 2: Holiday is set 14 years after the wedding of Lance and Mia and the group have moved on. The Best Man: 2 takes us back into their lives which if full of trials and tribulations. Interestingly enough the lives of the actors in the movies has been quite fascinating. Sanaa Lathan and Taye Diggs have a stellar of movies under their belts, Morris Chestnut is a very successful producer, Harold Perrineau will always be known as Michael Dawson from Lost while Terrence Howard is pretty much a superstar with his Oscar nominated role in Crash. He really didn’t need to do this film but I am really glad he did.

Best Man 2: Holiday will be released on 15th November in the US and hopefully it won’t be long before we get it over here in the UK.

It featured a group of women of different ages and with a wide range of body shapes in billboard, newspaper and magazine adverts. The aim of the campaign was to inspire them to have the confidence to be comfortable with themselves. This global campaign was created as a result from market research that showed that only 4% of women consider themselves beautiful. So Dove set out to create a world where beauty is a source of confidence and not anxiety. They did a pretty good job as the campaign got everyone talking and was mentioned on talk shows, women’s magazines and news programmes. The campaign also included a video, workshops, sleepover events and the publication of a book and the production of a play. Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty legacy has been huge and has not only spun into other projects but other brands have started working on projects that aim to increase self esteem about body images.

The latest one is Dare to Dip in which Nivea encourages women to strip off and take a dip in a pool to embrace their bodies. The objective of the campaign is to encourage women to support each other and celebrate the skin they’re in, rather than feel anxious about it. Dare to Dip launched last weekend in central London and thousands of women travelled from all over the UK to take part in the movement. A special outdoor pool was installed in Covent Garden where TV presenter, Jenni Falconer encouraged women to take their reveal plunge. I went to the media launch last Friday where representatives from Nivea where there to talk us through the campaign as well as the installed pool. It was all very impressive and synchronized swimmers, Aquabatique from Britain’s Got Talent were performing. Dare to Dip is a great initiative which gets people thinking and frankly anything that makes women feel good about themselves is a great thing.

For more information about Dare to Dip visit Nivea’s website.

Our hectic schedules means that we are always fighting for time in the morning, rushing to get the train, tube or bus means that breakfast is the one thing that gets dropped from our morning routine. Not good because breakfast is the most important meal; it fuels you up and gets you ready for the day. Without breakfast you get irritable, restless, and tired. You also find myself snacking in between meals in order to fill the gap. Weetabix have come up with the perfect solution to deal with this. It is called Weetabix On the Go biscuit, which is a packet of four biscuits that give you all the fibre, vitamins and minerals that you need for a great start in the morning. he crunchy breakfast biscuits are baked in the distinctive Weetabix lozenge shape and are available in three different flavours; Milk & Cereal, Apple with a hint of Cinnamon and Fruit & Fibre. The biscuits are high in fibre and contain sources of calcium. You can buy them in boxes containing five packs of four biscuits. I tried the biscuits and I must admit that they are a but on the dry side but they do help to fill you up. Four biscuits is just the right amount to satisfy your hunger. As mornings tend to be very hectic for me then Weetabix On the Go is a perfect to consume while I am on the train.

Weetabix On the Go can be bought from all major supermarkets.

Do you remember that period when criminals were robbing celebrities’ homes when they were out at high profile events? It happened to Madonna when she was at a premiere with then husband Guy Ritchie and a few footballers after they appeared on the very OTT but entertaining MTV Cribs. These days it is really easy to keep on the comings and goings of certain celebs with the explosion of Social Media. A movie that taps into celebrity culture is The Bling Ring which is based on a true story about a group of friends who are so fame obsessed that they use the internet to track celebrities’ whereabouts in order to rob their homes. The group are played by Emma Watson, Taissa Farmiga, and Leslie Mann and Katie Chang. Their victims include Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Megan Fox, Rachel Bilson, Audrina Patridge, and Orlando Bloom who are featured in the film. Interestingly enough a lot of the celebrities featured in the film were actual targets by the real bling ring who raided their homes for designer clothes, jewellery and cash. The criteria for being robbed was that the celebrity should be cool and fashionable. They used Twitter, Facebook and a website called Celebrity Real Estate to work out when their targets were likely to be out of the house attending events.

The Bling Ring is written and directed by Sofia Coppola who is gradually becoming a power weight in Hollywood when it comes to cool indie films. The title will certainly be one of the films of the year and it is so revered that it has been chosen to open the Un Certain Regard section of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. A film about celebrities, social media and the angst of PYTs? This is right up my street and I cannot wait for it to be released over here in the UK.

The Bling Ring will be released in the US on 14th June.

I missed all the mass hysteria over The Only Way is Essex when it launched in 2010 and I only took real notice of the show when I attended Essex Fashion Week in 2011 where a lot of the cast from the show were present. The Only Way is Essex of TOWIE as it is now refered to, has been one of the TV sensations of the last few years. Just as The Hills and Jersey Shore swept the nation across the pond, TOWIE has the same effect in the UK. Not only has it had an effect in house prices in Essex but it has created a huge awareness about the county. In case you have been under a rock, TOWIE is a reality TV series about the loves and lives about a group of friends who live a small town in Essex. The success of the TV show has propelled the cast into stardom which has led to commercial opportunities and the creatiom of brands. Mark Wright has become TV celebrity with stints on I’m a Celebrity and starred in his own show called Mark Wright’s Hollywood Nights. He has also landed a radio presenting slot on Heart. Amy Childs has her own fashion range as well as a self titled perfume. Other cast members from the show have opened boutiques in their home town. Jessica Wright runs her own lingerie shop called With Love, Jessica, Joey Essex has launched a shop called Fussy, Sam Faiers is co-owner of Minnie’s Boutique with her sister Billie and Lucy Mecklenburgh owns a fashion boutique called Love Lucy.

However the lady who has had the most success is Lauren Goodger with her brand, Lauren’s Way. It consists of various beauty products such as hair extensions, fake tan, false lashes and hair rollers. A limited edition of the eyelashes went on sale previously and sold like hot cakes and this time she has launched a new collection to satisfy demand. The Lash Collection has four different styles that capture looks for day and night. Daytime Dazzle, Fabulous Flutter, Midnight Diva and Essex Glamour. A lot of the products from the brand such as the fake tan, dream rollers have gained a lot of great reviews from beauty bloggers. I attended the launch of her eyelash collection last week at the Jewel Bar which was quite a nice intimate do with Lauren’s family, friends and few minor celebrities. We were gifted a large goodie bag with a selection of items from her brand – a set of Dream Rollers, the Big Bun, a carry case and a selection of her tan products. I really like the big bun but I hear that you need hair like Rapunzel but with my new weave I am looking forward to giving it a go. I did try out the rollers last night and I was impressed with the results. The rollers have a lot of grip which holds your hair in place. They are also really soft which allows you to sleep comfortably at night as they flatten under pressure. Once you take them out you are left with soft, wavy curls and pure volume. Not bad at all. Plus you can stuff them in the carry case to keep them safe. I love it. So with the flurry of biographies by TOWIE stars and books on Essex life it looks like the Essex life is set to run and run.

Following the huge success of talent based shows and films Step Up and Save the Last Dance it is only inevitable that the UK will come up with a version of their own. Yes we had StreetDance but that was a total cheese fest that no one took seriously. Beat Girl is a much more realistic portray of the creative arts scene in London. It is the story of Heather played by Louise Dylan, an aspiring classical pianist whose life is turned upside down when her mother dies. She is forced to move in with her estranged father and very stand offish half brother. Heather is living her mother’s dream of getting a place at the prestigious Julliard performing arts school. Heather’s focus to her craft is shifted when she falls for Toby played by Craig Daniel Adams, a cool DJ who introduces her to the world of electronic dance music. She finds herself torn between two worlds and is forced to chose between what she has always known and the new world of excitement she so desires. Beat Girl is produced by beActive, created by Emmy-nominated writer-producer Nuno Bernardo and directed by the award winning director Maírtin de Barra. There is also a web series on YouTube that covers Heather’s thoughts in her online diary. I love the trailer for the film and it looks very contemporary and modern. The character of Heather seems very relatable and the footage from the club scenes seem very authentic. It is really great to see a film that conveys young creatives in the capital living their dreams despite all the obstacles that they face.
